Kerala Assembly speaker P Sreeramakrishnan has criticised Poonjar MLA PC George for making derogatory comments about the actress, who was abducted and assaulted in a car in Kochi.

In a Facebook post, the speaker expressed his solidarity with the actress. Referring to George's infamous comment that how could the actress return to work the next day if she was attacked, Sreeramakrishnan stressed that it was shocking and inhuman coming from a legislator.

"If persons holding high posts make such comments and defend these crimes, it would only encourage criminals. I will do everything in my capacity as the Assembly speaker to take strict action against people who made such remarks," Sreeramakrishnan said in his post.

Meanwhile, a complaint filed by the Women in Cinema Collective against George for his comments against the actress is with the Speaker. It could be forwarded to the ethics committee of the Assembly.
