Kodinhi Faisal alias Anilkumar (Unni), aged 30, was found dead on November 19, 2016 after he converted to Islam. After the death of Faisal, his mother and family members, including two sisters, had embraced Islam.

This is second time, a Faisal murder accused has been targeted. On August 2, another accused in the case Thayyil Lijeesh was injured when an Innova car hit his motorbike at Parappanangadi.

Lijeesh later had approached the police and alleged that the accident was a deliberate attempt to kill him.
