Woman cheated on matrimonial website, loses Rs 9 lakh

- A man called Vijay Srivastav posted at Bharath Matrimonial website and the complainant responded to the post.
- He started asking her for money quoting he has not got salary and she obliged giving him Rs 7.70 lakhs at five times.
- Finally he said he is coming to iIdia and asked for Rs 1.30 lakh and she deposited it into a friend's account.

A 26 year old woman working at a Human Resources Department of a private company has lodged a complaint with the police that she had met a man called Vijay Srivastav at Bharath Matrimonial website. He had stated that he was married to one Divya in 2000 and has a son and she had died of cancer. He wanted to marry again to take care of his son. Many had responded to the post. The complainant also responded to the ad. They exchanged phone numbers and started talking. After 2 months of talking she had agreed to marry Vijay.
After that Vijay started taking money from her giving various reasons. He said his company was into in trouble and had not given him salary for 6 months and asked her to help saying he would return it after coming to India.
She credited through friends a total of Rs 7.70 lakh five times. On July 20 he called her and said he was planning to return to India, get married to her and settle down and asked for Rs 1.30 lakhs. As per his suggestion she had credited the money into the account of one Sumith Roy.
After that his phone was switched off. All her attempts to contact him were futile. Even after 2 months he is not available and finally she realised shew as cheated. His account at the Bharath Matrimonial website is also removed. She has appealed to find him and take action.
