Vijayendra denied ticket for Varuna against CM Siddaramaiah's son, Yathindra

Former CM and BJP State Leader BS Yeddyurappa's younger son, Vijayendra will not contest from Varuna against CM Siddaramaiah's son Yathindra say sources.

The news is said to have shocked BJP leaders too, who expected Vijayendra to give a tough fight to Yathindra. Now, the party is said to have decided to field someone from Varuna to contest against Congress's Yathindra.

In fact, Yeddyurappa himself made the announcement while campaigning in Nanjangud, that Vijayendra will not contest from Varuna.

Currently, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is an MLA from Varuna, but he chose to contest from Chamundeshwari this time around, as he has given the seat up to his son Dr Yathindra. Siddaramaiah wanted to field his elder son Rakesh, but his sudden demise on July 30 in 2016 led him to bring in his younger son Yathindra into politics, instead.

Vijayendra was hopeful of getting the ticket and had declared it as well, after performing rituals at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru, that he will defeat Yathindra, who is also a newbie in the political field.

Thus BJP leaders were hopeful of Vijayendra, who is equally new to politics, to give a tough fight to Yathindra. However, the reason behind not giving a ticket to Yathindra is not known yet. It is surprising that a local BJP leader will now be contesting in Varuna instead.

BJP has released its fourth list and has kept four more spots pending including Varuna.
