The protest by farmers demanding water has intensified all over Mandya. On Tuesday farmers resorted to Jail Bharo agitation. They blocked Bengaluru - Mysuru Road and did 'Urulu Seve' - rolling over to register their protest. They also resorted to shouting and beating their mouths, reports Kannada Prabha.

The traffic on Bengaluru - Mysuru Road was held up for a few hours. There was a tussle between police and farmers when the police tried to clear the protesters. Farmers who were protesting at KR Pete were arrested. Former MP Madegowda said if water is not released, a dharna would be held in front of the Chief Minister’s house. Responding to the protest the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah convened a meeting on Wednesday and decided to release water from August 9 midnight.
