Upset over being misinterpreted, Kodagu Congress leader Ramesh quits party

Kodagu Congress leader TP Ramesh quits party

Apparently upset over the misinterpretation of his gesture to MLC Veena Achaiah, Kodagu district Congress president and Silk Board Chairman TP Ramesh has resigned from the board and primary membership of the Congress party. Ramesh met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and submitted his resignation.It is reported that he decided to quit after the Congress party reportedly took objection to his behaviour.

It may be recalled here Ramesh was trying to hold MLC Veena Achaia's hand while seated on the dais during the Independence Day celebrations at Madikeri, recently. The images of Ramesh's inappropriate behaviour went viral forcing the ME Seetharam, minister for Science and Technology to say "I was present on the dais and this sort of behaviour is not acceptable. However, close they may be, such behaviour is not acceptable on a public platform."

It is reported that Ramesh in his letter to KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao has stated that "In my 40 years of political life, I was misunderstood for asking the well-being of MLC Veena, who is like a sister. This has upset me. If this is considered wrong, then it is unfortunate for seniors like me to be in the party," reports Kannada Prabha.
