Karnataka verdict: The complete scenario explained

The results of Karnataka Assembly election are out. BJP has emerged as the single largest party. However, it is short of eight seats to claim a simple majority.

Congress is the second largest party with 78 seats, and JD(S) has emerged as the real king even with 38 seats. In addition, 2 independents have won the election.

The current situation of Karnataka is no less than a thriller movie as the party in the second and third position - Congress and JD(S) have joined together and have (118) more than the magic number 113.

This makes the situation more complicated with BJP asking for two days to prove the majority and is all set to poach MLAs from JD(S) and Congress.

There are allegations of Operation Kamala by BJP to poach JD(S) and Congress MLAs and resort politics planned by Congress to keep the flock together.

But with HD Kumaraswamy contesting and winning in Ramanagara and Channapatna one seats will be vacant, reducing the magic number to 112. Still, the election for two constituencies - Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar is pending and will be held later this month.

Thus the number of games will continue to haunt the people of Karnataka who are waiting for the Governor's decision to invite a party to form the government.

Will the Governor invite the coalition parties which have the majority or BJP which is the single largest party, is still the question.

It can be remembered that Governors in Goa, Meghalaya and Manipur had invited the coalition government led by BJP to form the government, while not inviting the single majority party Congress to form the government.
