For over four hours, former bureaucrat Vinay Kumar and his team of investigating officers inspected "controversial" spots in the Parappana Agrahara prisons after allegations of rampant irregularities made national headlines.

The team which visited the jail late afternoon on Wednesday, inspected the barracks allotted for jailed AIADMK leader Sasikala Natarajan and stamp paper accused Abdul Karim Telgi. The team sought details of the facilities provided to these two and other prisoners from the jail officials.

Former DIG (prisons) D Roopa had alleged that Sasikala and Telgi were given special treatment after they allegedly bribed the jail officials. She had directly levelled charges of bribery on former DGP (prisons) Satyanarayana Rao. Rao had vehemently denied her charges threatening to sue her. However, videos of Sasikala and Telgi having an exclusive barrack for themselves with other facilities had gone viral exposing the jail officials' lie.

The team also questioned Jail officer Anitha on the recent developments in the jail. Later, the investigating officials visited CCTV control room following complaints by Roopa that some of the CCTV footage which were recorded during her visit to the jail were missing. They also visited jail kitchen, reports Kannada Prabha.

The team also spoke to some of the inmates on irregularities in the jail and the officials' conduct. It is reported that the team went to separate barracks to collect information. The team also net the jail officials and spoke to them for over three hours. It may be recallede here that after IPS officer D Roopa submitted a report of rampant irregularities in the jail, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had ordered an investigation into the allegations.

Meanwhile, Vinay Kumar refused to divulge details of his visit to the mediapersons. "I will submit report to the Home Department. If necessary, will visit the jail once again," reports Kannada Prabha quoting Vinay Kumar.
