The Karnataka government is all set to close down the government school, where Kannada's popular actor late Dr Vishnuvardhan pursued his high school studies. A notice has been served to this school by the Public Information Department.
The Model School Education Society at Chamarajapet in Bengaluru was established in 1870. The Kannada star Vishnuvardhan completed his high school in this school. But with the ending of the academic year, the school will be closed, said reports.
The 147-year-old school does not have the required number of students to continue, say sources. With this government's claim of saving Kannada medium schools has fallen flat. It can be noted that 17 more schools, with similar complaints of not enough students, will be closed in the state by May this year.
The high school section was opened in 1957. Both primary and high school will be closed simultaneously.
