Couple fights over son failing in SSLC examination Wife commits suicide

An incident of a woman committing suicide by hanging after a fight with her husband, following their only son failing to clear SSLC examination, has been reported at Vivekannada Nagar, near Katriguppe, on Tuesday.

The deceased is identified as Mahadevi (40), a supervisor with APS college in the City, resident of Vivekananda Nagar.  She lived with her husband Basavaraju and son Nithin.  Nithin had failed in the mathematics paper in SSLC examination and the couple fought over it. Basavaraju blamed Mahadevi of over indulging Nithin, which he argued was the reason for him failing in the exam. After the results were announced Nithin was staying in his grandmother's house in Srinagar.  The couple fought again at night and a dejected Mahadevi went into their bedroom and closed the door.

After some time, Basavaraju called out to Mahadevi to open the door but there was no response. At around 12 o'clock in the night Basavaraju’s younger brother returned home from work and was informed about the incident. When repeated requests went unanswered, at around 2 AM, the brothers broke open the door and found Mahadevi hanging from the ceiling.  They immediately informed the police, who rushed to the spot. A case has been booked at the Chennammanakere police station and investigations are on.
