BJP leader's son held along with friends for drunken brawl

Son of BJP's SC Morcha National general secretary Chi Na Ramu has been arrested along with three of his friends for assaulting a police personnel on duty at a bar in Malleswaram on Sunday. The arrested are Karl Marx (21), Shreyas (22), Chethan (20) and Keshav (23). Karl Marx is the son of Chi Na Ramu. Seriously injured police constable Umesh has been admitted to KC General Hospital.

It is reported that Karl Marx had gone to 'Viking Bar' on Malleswaram 8th Main Road along with his friends on Sunday. Around 1.20 pm, they kicked up a quarrel with the bar cashier over the price of a water bottle. The situation turned tense when one of the youths tried to assault the cashier, reports Kannada Prabha.

Umesh, police constable attached to Malleswaram police station, who was on the night rounds in the area, heard the chaos and went to check. He was joined by home guards personnel Rudresh.

When he questioned Karl Marx over the drunken brawl, Karl Marx reportedly tried intimidate the constable saying "Do you know who my father is?" He has reportedly hurled abuses on Umesh and Rudresh. When Umesh tried to drag one of them to the station, Karl Marx reportedly pulled the lathi from Umesh and severely beat him up. The efforts of the bar personnel in stopping them went in vain. Umesh collapsed on the ground. Sensing trouble, Rudresh alerted the Hoysala police who rushed to the spot and took the four youths into custody.

They rushed severely injured Umesh to KC General Hospital. Umesh is being treated for minor injuries. The Malleswaram police have registered a case against the four. They have also booked a case against the bar owner for serving liquor beyond the stipulated time limit.
