Bio Bomb scare: WIPRO gets new threat mail
- Threat mail originated in Switzerland
- Former employee’s hand suspected
- Second threat mail, gives one week’s time
FollowWIPRO, one of the leading IT giants of the country, has received a second threat mail on Thursday, warning of serious bio terror if demand for Rs 500 crores in Bitcoins is not met with in 7 days. This follows the first threat mail received on May 5.
The Bellandur police, along with Cyber Police have intensified investigations in this regard. It is found that both the mails are originated in Switzerland. Efforts are on to identify the sender. Prima facie the police suspect the hand of present or former employee of WIPRO. The second mail threatens that despite the warning WIPRO has not made any attempts to send the money and has not taken the threat seriously. Another week’s time is given failing which the sender threatens to resort to bioterror using recin, a natural toxin extracted from castor seeds.
Meanwhile, WIPRO has augmented security measures at all its offices. A statement from the company has said that there is no impact on the company’s operations.
