Bengaluru suicide Mahadevi APS College son fails in maths hanging from roof

A woman from Bengaluru allegedly hanged herself following a fight with the husband about their son has shocked the city.

Mahadevi and Basavaraju were residing at Kathriguppe in Bengaluru with their son Nithin. The son had failed in the SSLC examination. This led to a fight between the couple. The situation went to a point when the couple left the son at grandparents house and returned home.

Mahadevi was working as an in-charge in APS College. The forty-year-old Mahadevi was taken to task by husband Basavaraju and held her responsible for son failing in the examination.

“You pampered him a lot. You are responsible for all this,” the husband kept on taunting the wife. Tired of listening to it over and again the wife locked herself in the room. When she did not come out, husband went and knocked on the door, but there was no response.

Even after calling her out repeatedly there was no response. Not imagining that she might have committed suicide, husband waited outside for her anger to subside. When his brother came home at 12 am after work, Basavaraju told him that his sister-in-law was angry and was refusing to open the door.

Husband’s brother too tried to ask Mahadevi to open the door, but in vain. After waiting for a while, the brothers thought of the inevitable and were successful in breaking open the door at 2 am only to find Mahadevi hanging from the roof.

They immediately informed the police who visited the spot and inspected the place. A case in this regard has been filed at the Channammanakere Acchukattu Police Station.
