The BBMP has taken a stern action to evacuate Bangladeshi immigrants residing in sheds at Whitefield in Bengaluru.

The migrants who have got the ID cards were residing in the Amanikere Lake premises were asked to vacate by the BBMP. The action was taken in the direction of Joint Commissioner of Mahadevpur Zone, Vasanthi Amar.

The issue was that migrants from Bangladesh and West Bengal were living in sheds in the lake premises. They were living by picking rags. Whatever waste was remaining after selling the rags was not stored but thrown into the Varthur Lake. Though they denied doing it, residents of the area had complained against them.

The issue came to the fore when miscreants set fire to the waste collected in the Varthur Lake. This angered the localities who lodged a complained against the migrants.

The officers have reviewed the identity cards including Aadhaar Cards and found that they were living there illegally. They have been ordered to vacate the place by Saturday.
