Ambareesh no more: Thousands throng Kanteerava Stadium to pay homage, try to break barricades

Around 600 police personnel found it difficult to control the crowd. They were trying to break the barricades and forcefully gain entry to Kanteerava Stadium

Thousands of people came from distant places in Karnataka to pay their last tributes to their leader Ambareesh. The 66-year-old actor-politician died at Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru on Saturday night (November 24). Thousands of people gathered near the Kanteerava Stadium, where arrangements were made for the public to pay their last respects. But due to limited time, all the fans could not get into the stadium and see their leader for one last time. Around 600 police personnel deployed there found it difficult to control the crowd. The fans were trying to break the barricades and forcefully enter the stadium. But as the fans and people of Mandya too requested that they also should be given a chance to pay their respects in the actor's hometown, Ambareesh's mortal remains were flown to Mandya from HAL. Arrangements have been made at Sir M Visvesvaraya Stadium in Mandya for the public to pay their homage from 4 PM on Sunday to 6 AM on Monday.
