Affordable e-bikes at 36 metro stations: From price to conditions, here is all you need to know

Though Metro saved a lot of time and energy for the people, travelling to and from Metro stations was a problem. Now, no more. All this because electric bikes will be available in 36 Metro Stations to commute to and from the Metro stations.

Here are the complete details:

Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy and Bengaluru Town Planning Minister KJ George launched the e-bike service at Cubbon Park Metro Station. 

Thus apart from Cubbon Park, Hosahalli, Sir M Visvesvaraya and Sampige Road Metro Stations, e-bikes will be available at all other stations.

Parking at various places have been identified. Thus the motorist who takes the e-bike from the metro station can park it at any parking lot (designated) near his/her destination. Once parked there, the bike will be given to another customer from there.

This works through an application. Through the app, the motorist who wants the bike will get an OTP on his phone. The bike will not have the key, instead, there is a small screen, where the motorist must type the OTP and can start the bike.

Even while parking, he/she will receive another OTP, by typing through which the bike can be stopped and parked. If anyone without OTP tries to start the bike, a message with the location is immediately sent to the server room.

The rates fixed so far are Rs 5 per km and 5 paise per minute. If anyone wants to take the bike till home, Rs 6.50 per km will be charged.
