36 ponds, 250 mobile tankers for Ganesha immersion

BBMP has made all preparations for immersion of Ganesha in the City with 36 ponds and 250 mobile tankers arranged the City said Mayor G Padmavathi. To get details of the spots where temporary ponds are created for immersion go to www.bbmp.gov.in  reported Kannada Prabha.

Speaking at a joint press meet with BBMP Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad the Mayor said the public are already appealed to worship eco-friendly Ganeshas.  The Pollution Control Board has also banned POP Ganeshas. Compared to last year this year there is a decrease of POP Ganeshas by 40 per cent. However, all Ganeshas worshipped will be allowed to immerse in the tankers and ponds, she said.

As many as 36 temporary ponds are being created for immersion of Ganesha. The 250 mobile tankers will travel all over the City facilitating immersion of small household Ganeshas. Along with these the Pollution Control Board has made arrangements for additional 42 mobile tankers to facilitate Ganesha immersion to avoid tanks and lakes being polluted.

BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad said POP Ganeshas are banned within BBMP limits. However thousands will worship Ganesha and to not cause any hurt to the sentiments all Ganeshas will be immersed. However, the POP Ganeshas will be removed after few hours unlike mud Ganeshas which will be allowed to disintegrate completely.

There is no provision to immerse the Ganeshas after 10.30 pm at the designated ponds.  Bursting of crackers, playing loud speakers at the spot of immersion is totally banned. Necessary safety precautions have been taken to arrange for electric lights, Help Desk, security staff, volunteers, expert swimmers and gangmen at the spot of immersions. All flowers and other Pooja materials should be disposed at separate place designated for the purpose.  Public are instructed to compulsorily segregate flowers and eco friendly stuff from other things and put in separate containers, the Mayor appealed.
