West Bengal home secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay appointed as new chief secretary

Alapan Bandopadhyay was appointed as the new chief secretary of West Bengal on September 28. Alapan Bandyopadhyay is a 1987-batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre. He was also in charge of Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Culture. He has replaced Rajiva Sinha who has been shifted to West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on September 28 announced that Alapan Bandyopadhyay has been named as the new chief secretary of the state, replacing Rajiva Sinha who has been shifted to West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.

Alapan Bandyopadhyay is a 1987-batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre. He was also in charge of Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Culture.

Mamata Banerjee tweeted, “I am pleased to announce that Alapan Bandyopadhyay, now Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Information) has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of West Bengal.”

Apart from this, she also announced a couple of other changes at the bureaucratic level in the state.

Manoj Pant will be the new finance secretary. He is at present the principal secretary of the Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Department.

The chief minister of West Bengal said, “HK Dwivedi, hitherto Finance Secretary will be the new Home Secretary and Manoj Pant takes charge of Finance with effect from October 1. Best wishes to the entire team.”
