Kanchan Nath, former Doordarshan anchor and a yoga instructor, died in a fatal accident when all of a sudden a coconut tree fell on her when she was on her morning walk.

Kanchan was on her morning walk near Chembur when a coconut tree on the roadside fell on her head, and she died on the spot. Kanchan's husband while speaking to Mid Day had told that the people of the Chandroday Society had requested the BMC to cut down the tree, but the local body had refused to grant them permission nor did they cut it.
Kanchan was 58 years old and was working as a yoga instructor after she quit Doordarshan some years ago. The incident occurred in front of the Chandroday Society.
The footage was captured by the CCTV camera which was installed by one of the nearby shops. Unlike in other incidents, the passersby stopped and rushed to pull her out of the tree and rushed her to the hospital.
