A look at the major news events coming up today

* India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue will be held in New Delhi. Later, US Secretary Pompeo & Defence Secretary Mark Esper will meet PM Narendra Modi.

* Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to address Army Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi.

* SC verdict likely on pleas seeking court-monitored probe and transfer of trial to Delhi in the Hathras case in which a Dalit girl was allegedly brutally raped and later succumbed to her injuries.

* Indian Army is commemorating Infantry Day today. Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane paid tributes at the National War Memorial on Infantry Day. The day marks the arrival of Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 to push back Pakistan supported intruders. On October 27, when the first wave of Indian troops landed at Srinagar, Pakistani invaders were already in Baramulla.

* Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to lay the foundation stones of nine National Highway projects in Tripura today.The Projects, on completion, will provide faster and hassle-free inter-state and international connectivity to Bangladesh, and will be a major stride towards strengthening tourism sector of the State.

* President Donald Trump's nominee Amy Coney Barrett has been confirmed to the Supreme Court in a 52-48 Senate vote.

* Railways has allowed lawyers in Mumbai along with the registered clerks of advocates in different courts to travel by currently operating special suburban trains in the city. They can travel in special suburban trains in Mumbai from today.  

* Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interact with beneficiaries of PM SVANidhi Scheme from Uttar Pradesh today via video conferencing. The scheme was launched on 1 June, 2020 to help poor street vendors, impacted by Covid-19, resume livelihood; Till date, over 24 lakh applications received, out of which more than 12 lakh sanctioned & about 5.35 lakh loans disbursed.

* PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate national conference on Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, on the theme Vigilant India, Prosperous India via video conferencing.

* Mizoram govt imposes complete lockdown within Aizawl Municipal Council area from today to till November 3
