Sick, absent Sonia has better attendance in Lok Sabha than Rahul Gandhi

Sick absent Sonia has better attendance in LS than Rahul Gandhi

According to an attendance data maintained by PRS Legislative, it was said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has recorded more attendance than her son Rahul Gandhi. It is said that she has clocked 59% attendance visa vie 54% by her son Rahul Gandhi.

In the last three years, Sonia Gandhi participated in five debates, whereas Rahul took part in 11 debates, including one on inflation.

Sonia has not been keeping well for some time and has entrusted all party work to Rahul Gandhi as she went abroad a couple of times for "routine medical check-ups". Although the party members did not disclose the location, inside sources say that Sonia visits the United States for check-ups for an unknown ailment.

The Congress president has been mostly out of action after she was taken ill during a roadshow in Varanasi on August 2, 2016. She was admitted to the hospital after that. Post that incident, she has been to the hospital twice.

Sonia Gandhi, the then leader of the ruling party, had shown first signs of illness when she fell sick in the middle of the 9-hour debate surrounding the Food Security Bill in the Parliament in the year 2013. Gandhi went a series of medical tests during the five hours she spent in the hospital after the incident. PRS is a non-profit research body that tracks functioning of Parliament.
