Police seizes heroin worth over Rs 25 crore in Bengal; 1 arrested

The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police has arrested a drug trafficker with heroin worth Rs 25 crore. More than 5 kilograms of heroin was recovered from the drug trafficker, STF said.

The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police has arrested a drug trafficker with heroin worth Rs 25 crore. He was arrested from Rasulpur Bazar area of East Burdwan on Monday (March 1) night. More than 5 kilograms of heroin was recovered from the drug trafficker, STF said.

A STF officer said, “We had information about the person that he would come to deliver the drugs to an agent. We recovered 5.08 kg of heroin from his possession and seized his vehicle.”

According to the source, the STF officials rushed to arrest Sunil. They arrested Sunil from Rasulpur Bazar under Memari Police Station around 11:30 pm on Monday.

STF claimed that Sunil was bringing drugs in a car at the time of the incident. Sunil was taken out of the car and detained. More than 5 kilograms of heroin was seized from him. Investigators said the heroin was worth more than Tk 25 crore in the international smuggling market.

Apart from drugs, they also confiscated the car. The STF arrested Sunil after interrogation at night. He will be produced in court on Tuesday (March 2).

According to sources, Sunil is being interrogated to ascertain whether he has any link to the two BJP leaders who were recently arrested in a drug seizure case.
