New Delhi: All accused in the Nirbhaya rape and murder case will be produced before the Patiala House Court tomorrow (December 12). At this juncture, Nirbhaya's mother has demanded that all accused be hanged on December 16.

23-year-old Nirbhaya was gang-raped and murdered by seven in Delhi in 2012. Out of six, one committed suicide in the jail and another is juvenile. Remaining four are facing imprisonment. Sources said that the four convicts will be produced at the court through video conferencing as per the court's direction.

The reports claim that the convicts are being produced before the court to ascertain the exercise of their legal remedies as their review and curative petitions are pending in the apex court.

Nirbhaya's mother, spoke to Republic, and said that seven years is a long time and that all convicts should be hanged on December 16. Currently, all six convicts are lodged in Tihar jail, but the prison does not have a hangman. However, the Tihar officials have said that if the order to hang them is passed, then a hangman will be brought from Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, one of the convicts, Akshay Kumar Singh, has appealed to the Supreme Court seeking review of apex court's judgment of 2017 awarding the convicts in Nirbhaya case death penalty. He had even stated that anyway there were dying due to poor air quality in Delhi and that there was no need to execute them.

On October 31, the Tihar Jail officials had issued convicts a notice that the mercy petition was their last legal option.

Meanwhile, the Tihar Jail in Delhi has asked Uttar Pradesh to provide two hangmen at short notice, amid reports that four men convicted in the Nirbhaya rape-and-murder case may be executed soon.

Uttar Pradesh's additional director general (prisons) Anand Kumar told reporters on Thursday that the department is ready to provide the hangmen.
