The National Investigation Agency took over the charge of investigating a bomb blast case at the Nimita railway station in West Bengal that injured 22 people, including West Bengal Minister Jakir Hossain.

The incident took place on February 17 when an explosion took place at Nimita railway station, leaving 22 people injured. It is learned that the NIA has since expressed its desire to lift the probe into the ID blast. NIA investigators, meanwhile, say such explosive activity is an extreme legal crime.

However, there is a lot of speculation about whether the UAPA Act can be applied in this case, according to a source close to the National Investigation Agency.

Initially, the case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Explosive Substances Act at the Azimganj GRP police station in Murshidabad district.
