Mumbai becomes first district to administer one crore COVID vaccinations

 The immunisation effort is being carried out at 507 locations in the Mumbai district, 325 of which are government facilities and 182 are run by private institutions.

With India making new records every day in its nationwide COVID inoculation drive, Mumbai has achieved the feat of becoming the first district in the country to reach the milestone of the one crore COVID vaccination mark.  According to the CoWin site, Mumbai has provided vaccination doses to 1,00,63,497 people, with 72,75,134 receiving the first dose and 27,88,363 receiving both. The immunisation effort is being carried out at 507 locations in the Mumbai district, 325 of which are government facilities and 182 are run by private institutions.

The most Covid-19 vaccinations were provided in the previous 30 days on August 27, when 1,77,017 individuals were vaccinated, followed by 1,63,775 doses on August 21 and 1,53,881 doses on August 23, according to the CoWIN site.

On Friday, 422 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Mumbai, making it the third day in a straight with more than 400 infections and three new fatalities. According to the local civic council, the total number of people killed has risen to 7,45,434, while the death toll has risen to 15,987.

With the Ganesh holiday just a few days away, the Mumbai police have begun taking action against anyone who is seen roaming the city's streets and other public areas sans face masks amid the coronavirus outbreak.  This year, Mumbai had the most daily cases with 11,163 on April 4, and the most deaths with 90 on May 1 during the pandemic's second wave.
