Somebody rightly said that "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself." A four-year-old dog in Uttar Pradesh proved that this adage still holds ground after he made the ultimate sacrifice and gave his life up while fighting a tiger in a bid to save his master.
Jacky was a four-year-old canine, who lived with a farmer in a village near Dudhwa National Park in the Terai of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Times of India report, the tiger attack took place on Friday night in Barbatpur village near Khutar town. The farmer, Gurdev Singh, was sleeping with the dog lying beside him. On hearing the approaching tiger, Jacky first to tried to wake up his master, but as the beast drew closer, the brave dog charged straight at him.
Jacky's action gave the farmer enough time to escape and call for help. However, by the time, the family came back, the tiger had slain the dog.
Singh along with his family later went looking for the dog and found his body. “Jacky's mother was a street dog and my children, Supreet and Gulshanpreet, took him in four years ago as a pup. It was a part of our family and used to follow them to school," Gurdev Singh told TOI.
"Jacky returned the favour of a few chapatis a day by giving up his life. I wish humans could learn from him how to love others,“ Singh added.
