Kolkata continues in top spot for number of COVID-19 patients in state; 41 cases added in 24 hours
Coronavirus scare in Kolkata is increasing day by day. 41 corona positive cases have emerged in Kolkata in less than 24 hours. The count of coronavirus positive patients reached 700 in the city.
Coronavirus scare is spreading every day in the city. Kolkata holds the first place in West Bengal in the number of coronavirus positive patients. Until Monday, the count of coronavirus infected was 659. In less than 24 hours the number has reached 700 as 41 more cases were reported in Kolkata.
Research indicates that in West Bengal, the very first coronavirus case was reported from Kolkata. While other regions except Howrah are coping with the situation quite well, Kolkata is at risk.
Reports indicate that most of the COVID-19 cases reported in 24 hours from West Bengal are from Kolkata, with seven people losing their battle to the deadly virus.
Recently, 24 people tested positive in Howrah. South 24 Parganas have 5 more cases taking the number to 38. East Midnapore has 37 cases. North 24 Parganas recently reported seven cases, taking its total tally of infected persons to 187. But on the bright side, eight districts remain unaffected by the virus - Purulia, Bankuram, Jhargram, North and South Dinajpur, Coochbehar and Alipurduar.
State home secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay said the state reported 85 COVID-19 cases recently. The total number of patients in the state is 1344. The death toll has reached 68.
On the other hand, the state government said, considering comorbidity of infected ones, the death toll is expected to be 140. At the time of writing this report, a total of 940 coronavirus patients are being treated in the state.
