Kerala: Snake bites 9-year-old in classroom, girl dies

A nine-year-old girl died of snakebite on Wednesday (November 20) in Wayanad, Kerala. According to the school management, Shahla was sitting close to the wall and was bitten by a snake when she inserted her foot into a hole in the wall.

Wayanad: A Class 5 student died of snake bite on Wednesday (November 20) in Kerala's Wayanad district. The deceased is identified as 9-year-old Shahla Sherin. 

According to sources, the girl was bitten by a snake in her classroom. After the girl observed physical difficulties and injury marks, she informed the matter to the class teacher. Soon school authorities and the student's parents rushed her to a nearby hospital. The school management said, Shehla was sitting close to the wall and was bitten by a snake when she inserted her foot into a hole in the wall.

However, doctors at the hospital failed to confirm the snake bite. Soon she was taken to another hospital and there too snake bite was not confirmed. Suddenly Shahla started to vomit, so the hospital authorities referred her to  Kozhikode medical college.

On the way to the medical college, Shahla suffered suffocation and was rushed to a private hospital. The doctors confirmed the snake bite, but failed to save the girl.
