Kerala: NIA’s secret mission a ‘great success’ after arrest of terrorists

The NIA arrested two terrorists in Thiruvananthapuram in a highly secretive operation.

Thiruvananthapuram: On September 21, National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two terrorists from Thiruvananthapuram.

One of them belongs to Lashkar-e-Taiba while the other is from Indian Mujahideen.

The two terrorists were nabbed after they landed at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. One of them hails from Uttar Pradesh while the other is a native of Kerala.

According to reports, the Kerala native named Shoaib is an accused in 2008 Bengaluru serial blasts and he was absconding ever since the blasts took place.

The NIA had kept all movement of the duo confidential, right from their travel from Riyadh.

The agency questioned the duo from the airport for almost three hours. The duo was under RAW radar after Riyadh authorities issued a lookout notice against them.

The report added that the Kerala Police nor the Intelligence Department was informed about the arrest. Kerala Police reached the airport after NIA and RAW arrested the terrorists. Around 9.30 pm, the terrorists were taken outside the airport.
