Karnataka: Section 144 to be imposed in Mangaluru ahead of Ram Temple bhumi poojan

FollowMangaluru: In the wake of the Ram Temple 'bhoomi pujan' scheduled to be held in Ayodhya on Wednesday (August 5), section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been imposed in Karnataka's Mangaluru from 8 pm on August 4 (Tuesday) to 6 am on August 6 (Thursday).

Millions of Hindus are waiting with bated breath for August 5 to dawn. That is because Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be taking part in the bhumi pujan of the Ram temple in the holy place of Ayodhya. It will indeed be a historic moment.
But at the same time, there is a lot of opposition for the same as many feel it should not take place at a time like the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh on August 5.
After the top court ruled in favour of Hindus last November, a trust was formed to erect a magnificent temple at Ayodhya. As the PM lays the foundation stone, he will be accompanied by BJP stalwarts like LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi (virtual presence), BJP chief Mohan Bhagwat, and UP CM Yogi Adityanath himself.
A trust member had said that in view of the coronavirus pandemic, only 200 people would attend the ceremony and all social distancing norms will be followed at the event.
