FollowKarnataka Minister MTB Nagaraju, who is one of the richest politicians in the country, has declared total assets worth Rs 1,609 crore, while filing the nomination for the upcoming Assembly polls that is scheduled to be held on May 10 in the state.
On Monday, Nagaraju filed the papers as the ruling BJP's candidate from the Hoskote Assembly segment, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. In his election affidavit, Nagaraju, who has mentioned his occupation or profession as agriculturist and business, along with his wife M Shanthakumari, a housewife, together own movable assets worth Rs 536 crore.

In the affidavit filed along with nomination, the couple have declared total liabilities of Rs 98.36 crore. Nagaraju (72), who has studied up to Class 9, has detailed his source of income as agriculture, house property, business and other sources, and that of his wife also to be house property and other sources.

On the other side, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar filed his nomination on Monday from the Kanakapura constituency. He has also revealed his assets in detail. The total value of the Congress leader’s possession of movable and immovable assets is said to be worth Rs 1,214 crore.
His wife Usha Shivakumar assets sum up to Rs 153.3 crore and the property of the undivided family is Rs 61 crore. Shivakumar also showed that his total debt is Rs 226 crore.
The Congress leader showed that his family's income is coming from farming, rent and shares in various companies, and businesses. DK Shivakumar has Rs 244.93 crore under his name while Rs 20.3 crore and Rs 12.99 crore are under his wife and son, Aakash's name, respectively.
