Karnataka: 110 people test positive for COVID-19 at Vidhana Soudha

Out of 2,145 tests carried out at the Vidhana Soudha since Monday (September 20), 110 people have tested positive for COVID-19.

Bengaluru: The Vidhana Soudha is conducting COVID-19 tests every day to prevent the spread of the virus during the ongoing Monsoon sessions.

Everyone from politicians, journalists and assembly staff who are taking part in the session must undergo tests before attending the session.

Out of 2,145 tests carried out at the Vidhana Soudha since Monday, September 20, a total 110 people have tested positive for COVID-19 as on September 22, Tuesday.

The 110 persons tested positive include MLAs, MPs, journalists and Vidhana Soudha officials.

According to the Speaker, Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri the positivity rate in the tests conducted at the Vidhana Soudha is 5.2 percentage.

According to the Vidhana Soudha officials a lot more people may have contracted the virus but most of them are asymptomatic and their results will be known only after doing the test.

On Tuesday (September 22) night Deputy chief minister of Karnataka Govind M Karjol announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Govind has been hospitalised on the advice of a doctor even though he had no symptoms.

Earlier, chief minister Yediyurappa and a few other ministers, including another deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan, home minister Basavaraj Bommai, forest minister Anand Singh, tourism minister C T Ravi and agriculture minister BC Patil, had tested positive for coronavirus and have recovered.
