An Indian family has come under fire after allegedly harassing restaurant employees and damaging property at an Indian restaurant in Vietnam when staff requested that their children stop scattering tissue papers across the dining area. The incident, captured on CCTV, was shared on Instagram by Aishwarya Khanna Singh, owner of Bombay Bites, an Indian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. According to the restaurant owner, the confrontation began after employees politely asked the family to stop their children from throwing tissues around the restaurant.

The footage opens with the children pulling tissues out of dispensers and flinging them across the dining area. They were also seen picking up plates and drinking glasses from the table before tossing them onto the floor.

Moments later, a man, believed to be the children's father, was seen angrily confronting restaurant staff while shouting. CCTV footage also appeared to show him grabbing glasses from a nearby table and smashing them onto the floor.

A visibly distressed staff member then walked away, throwing his cap to the ground. The man and a woman, believed to be the children's mother, followed him. The footage appeared to show the man shoving the employee, while the woman was also seen pushing the staff member before others intervened to separate the groups and defuse the confrontation.

Sharing the video online, Aishwarya alleged that instead of cooperating with the staff's request, the family damaged the restaurant, disrespected and harassed employees, and avoided responsibility by claiming to be an "influencer."

Emphasising that "a restaurant is not a playground," the owner said hospitality was their responsibility, but "basic decency is everyone's responsibility," adding that respect for staff, public property and shared spaces was non-negotiable.

The viral video triggered widespread outrage on social media, with many users blaming the parents for setting a poor example for their children. Several commenters said the adults appeared to encourage aggressive behaviour instead of teaching values such as respect and discipline by confronting restaurant employees alongside their children.

Others described the family's conduct as uncivilised and argued that those who mistreat restaurant staff should face consequences. Many also expressed concern over the values the children could grow up with if such behaviour was normalised at home.

Several users further remarked that the incident reflected a lack of civic sense, humility and respect for others.
