An IAS officer’s sarcastic post on Facebook about the BJP and praising Jawahar Lal Nehru has got him into trouble.
On Tuesday, Barwani Collector Ajay Gangwar posted a sarcastic remark on Facebook questioning people who criticised Nehru. He said that the first prime minister of India had stopped the nation from becoming a “Hindu Taliban country” in 1947.
He further said that that Nehru was wise enough to choose Vikram Sarabhai and Homi J Bhabha over “intellectuals like Baba Ramdev and Asaram Bapu.” He also credited Nehru for bringing IITs, ISRO, BARC and thermal power plants, and setting up universities instead of gaushalas and temples. “He (Nehru) made you walk scientific path, not one of superstition. The Gandhi family should indeed apologise for these mistakes,” he wrote in his post, mocking the BJP government.
However, his post has gone viral ever since and people have been sharing it via Facebook and Whatsapp.
According to the Indian Express, SK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said that the matter has reached Chief Secretary Anthony D’Sa. Despite repeated attempts, Gangwar did not return calls. Mishra further said that the post will be examined and Gangwar will be asked for an explanation if the content is found violating Civil Services (Conduct) Rules.
Also, MoS Lal Singh Arya, who holds the GAD portfolio slammed Gangwar, stating that officers were not supposed to make such political remarks on a social media platform.
