From Red Fort, PM Modi tells countrymen: 'We have to make the next 25 years glorious'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reiterated that the India of the 21st century has the ability to set big goals and achieve them. 

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort on India's 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the vision and aspirations of a billion Indians.

Here are highlights of his address to the nation:

* The India of the 21st century has the ability to set big goals and achieve them. Today India is also resolving issues, which were waiting to be resolved for decades, even centuries. Be it the historic decision to scrap Article 370 or frees the country from the tax trap with GST or announcing One rank one pension for our military comrades or a peaceful solution to the Ramjanmabhoomi case, we have seen all this come true in the last few years.

* Today the world is looking at India from a new perspective and this vision has two important aspects -- terrorism and expansionism. India is fighting both these challenges and is also responding in a tactful manner.

* It is necessary for India to be energy independent to make it self-reliant. That is why today India will have to resolve to be energy independent before 100 years of independence.

* One of the biggest goals before India is to have a quantum jump in the field of Green Hydrogen. Prime Minister Modi announces the National Hydrogen Mission.

* Two-and-a-half years ago, the experiment of admitting daughters was done for the first time in a Sainik School in Mizoram. Now the government has decided that all Sainik Schools in the country will also be opened for the daughters of the country.

* It is a matter of pride for the country whether it is education or sports, board results or Olympic medal, our daughters are performing phenomenally today. Today, the daughters of India are eager to take their space.

* Manufacturers in the country must understand that the product they send out is not just a product made in their company. India's identity is associated with it, prestige is attached, trust of many people of India is attached.

* Manufacturers should know, 'your every product is a brand ambassador for India. As long as that product is in use, the buyer will say, yes, it is made in India.'

* Moving forward on the path of development, India will have to increase both its manufacturing and exports.

* The country has resolved that 75 Vande Bharat trains will connect every corner of the country in 75 weeks of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. 

* Yesterday's start-ups are becoming today's unicorns. Their market value is reaching thousands of crores.

* Good and smart governance are required to implement reforms. Today the world is witnessing how India is scripting a new chapter of governance.

* All government departments must launch a campaign to review rules and procedures. Every rule, every process that has stood as a hindrance for the people must be removed.

* We have also awakened the aspirations of the districts that were believed to have been left behind. Priority is being given to schemes related to education, health, nutrition, roads, employment, in more than 110 aspirational districts of the country. Many of these districts are in tribal areas

* Today, our villages changing rapidly. In the last few years, facilities like roads and electricity have been provided to villages. Now, villages are getting the power of optical fibre networks. Digital entrepreneurs are being prepared in villages.

* Today, the country has a new 'National Education Policy' to meet the needs of the 21st century. The new National Education Policy as a means to fight against poverty.

* Sport has been made a part of mainstream education instead of extracurricular. Sport an effective means of moving forward in life.

* Our dream is to see small farmers becoming the pride of the country. In the coming years, we will have to increase the collective power of the small farmers of the country. They have to be given new facilities.

* Over 80 per cent of the farmers of the country have less than 2 hectares of land. In the earlier policies that were made in the country, we did not focus on small farmers. Now decisions are being taken keeping these small farmers in mind.

* We have to work together for next-generation infrastructure, for world-class manufacturing, for cutting edge innovation and for new-age technology.

* Ladakh is witnessing the creation of modern infrastructure. The Indus Central University is also going to make Ladakh a centre of higher education.

*  In Jammu or Kashmir, the balance of development is now visible on the ground. Delimitation Commission has been constituted in Jammu and Kashmir and preparations are on for future assembly elections.

* Our northeast, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, including the entire Himalayan region, our coastal belt and our tribal region will become a big base for India's development in future.

* Today a new history of connectivity is being written in northeast India. Very soon, the work of connecting all northeast state capitals with railway service will be completed.

* To take India to new heights in the 21st century, it is necessary to make full use of India's potential. For this, hand-holding of backward sections of the society and certain areas of the country will be required.

* The government will fortify its various schemes that provide foodgrains to the poor. The government will provide nutritious rice to the poor. By 2024, from ration shops to mid-day meals, all foodgrains that will be provided to the poor will be fortified. 

* There comes a time in every country's path of development when it has to redefine itself, move forward with new resolutions. Today that time has come in India's development journey. We have to make the next 25 years glorious.

* Amrut Kaal will go on for 25 years. However, we must not wait for 25 years for achieving our targets. The nation must get to work right now! The nation needs to change and we need to change as citizens as well according to the changing times.

* Any resolve is incomplete until the determination is not accompanied by hard work and valour.

* Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and everyone's efforts are very important for the nation to achieve of all our goals.

* The nation needs to move towards saturation. It needs 100% villages with roads, 100% households with bank accounts, 100% beneficiaries with Ayushman Bharat cards and 100% eligible persons with gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme.

* People of India have fought the battle against Coronavirus with restraint and patience.
