Heavy shelling by Pakistan in a Jammu & Kashmir border village caused significant damage to civilian homes, vehicles, and shops. Residents sought shelter during the intense firing, leaving many frightened and displaced.
Jammu & Kashmir: Several civilian houses, vehicles, and shops were damaged in a border village of Jammu & Kashmir after Pakistan resorted to heavy and unprovoked shelling late last night, triggering panic among residents.

According to locals, the shelling, which began late in the evening and continued into the night, caused significant destruction in the area. The worst-hit were homes located along the Line of Control (LoC), where multiple houses sustained damage to walls, roofs, and front areas. Several shops and parked vehicles in the village market were also reported damaged.
One local resident, speaking to reporters, said, “The firing by Pakistan has damaged the whole front area of my house. Houses of my relatives have also been damaged. There was very heavy shelling at night. We stand with the Army.”
"The damage is severe. The firing started around 1am in the night, and now the house is damaged. We went back and hid ourselves. We were very scared. The heavy shelling stopped around 3-3:30am , and then we left the house. Our vehicle has been damaged. We hid in the room at the back. We kept a cupboard (almirah) and a big double bed and hid behind them to save ourselves," he added.
The shelling is reported to have been sudden and intense, leaving little time for villagers to take cover. While no civilian casualties have been confirmed yet, authorities are assessing the damage and providing relief and assistance to the affected families.
Security forces stationed in the region responded to the provocation, and a high alert has been sounded in the border areas. The Indian Army is said to be closely monitoring the situation and taking all necessary measures to ensure civilian safety.
This incident adds to the growing concerns over repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan, which threaten the fragile peace along the LoC and endanger innocent lives in border communities. Local administration teams are currently on the ground evaluating the extent of destruction and coordinating with the military for further action.
