CSIR-NAL's new-generation Hansa aircraft completes maiden flight

The Hansa two-seater aircraft designed and developed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Aerospace Limited successfully completed its maiden flight on September 3.

The New Generation (NG) variant is the latest version of the original Hansa aircraft.

Bengaluru-based CSIR-NAL PRO Sangeetha A L said that the Hansa NG took off from HAL airport at 2:09 PM and flew at an altitude of 4000 ft. and gained a speed of 80 knots before making a successful landing after about 20 minutes.

Test pilot Captain Amit Dahiya said the flight parameters were normal.

The Hansa-NG has a glass cockpit with cabin comfort, electrically operated flaps and a highly efficient digitally-controlled engine. 

The aircraft, which has low acquisition and operational cost, has already received 72 Letters of Intent from various Flying Clubs.

The CSIR-NAL expects the aircraft to be certified within the next four months before it gets inducted into service.

He further mentioned that CSIR-NAL has already identified a private partner and series production will start soon.
