Bengaluru: Karnataka medical education minister K Sudhakar's 82-year-old father Keshava Reddy has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). 

The minister took to Twitter on Monday (June 22) and wrote, "My father's COVID-19 test has come out positive. Anxiously waiting for reports of other family members. Praying for speedy recovery of my father."

According to information, his father developed the symptoms after coming in contact with their domestic helps in Bengaluru.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities had earlier confirmed that both the male helps at their house had tested positive for the virus. And as a protocol every primary contact should be subjected to COVID-19 test. 

His father is housed at a private hospital and is being closely monitored due to his age. His house helps who are aged 40 and 26, are at Bengaluru's Victoria Hospital for treatment. 

While the entire family including the minister, his wife and two children will be tested as they are primary contacts, they along with home guards, all put together eight members will now have to follow quarantine rules.
