Bengaluru: City Crime Branch (CCB), on Wednesday (October 9) conducted raids at Parappana Agrahara (Bengaluru Central Prison) and uncovered weapons and mobile phones from inmates.

According to reports, police have confiscated more than 30 knives and daggers along with marijuana and smoking pipes.

Police also seized a mobile phone with four SIM cards from the prison.

The raids are still underway.

Based on a tipoff about illegal activities taking place in the jail premises, the CCB conducted raids at the prison premises.

Reports further stated that the use of mobile phones by inmates, smuggling of marijuana and murder plots of fellow inmates are being probed.

CCB's joint police commissioner Sandeep Patil supervised the raids conducted by at least 60 CCB personnel, including four ACPs and six inspectors.

However, this is not the first time the police officials have witnessed unlawful activities taking place in the central jail.

Earlier, D Roopa, the then DIG of the prison, had also raised an alarm about unlawful activities taking place in Parappana Agrahara prison.
