Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday sparked off intense political speculation when he arrived at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. 

The latest updates with regard to that meeting were shared by the former chief minister's aide Raveen Thukral who tweeted a statement quoting Captain Amarinder Singh.

The Twitter post informed that Captain Amarinder Singh discussed with Amit Shah the prolonged farmers' agitation against the Centre's farm laws, which were implemented last September.

Captain Amarinder Singh urged the Union Home Minister to resolve the crisis urgently with the repeal of the laws and guarantee Minimum Support Price, the Twitter post by Thukral said.

Thukral added that the former chief minister sought the Centre's support to Punjab with regard to crop diversification. 

Meanwhile, fast-paced political developments continue to unfold in New Delhi with sources suggesting that Captain Amarinder Singh may hold more meetings with the top brass of the BJP over the next few hours before making a big announcement.

According to political pundits, if Captain Amarinder Singh manages to convince the Centre to agree to any of his demands, his stature within Punjab is expected to multiply manifold. And that could put the Congress party in a tight spot.

The Congress is struggling to keep its house in order in Punjab following Navjot Singh Sidhu's rebellion which saw him resigning from the Punjab state president's post on Tuesday.
