Bizarre: Teacher steals sarees for wife's beauty pageant
- A 32-year old teacher in a government school found that the sarees his wife wanted to buy were too expensive.
- He, therefore, chose to steal them so that she could wear them at the contest.
- The husband-wife duo were arrested at the beauty pageant.

Necessity is the mother of invention, they say, but for this teacher who chose to stole rather than work hard for the necessity. In a bizarre incident, the man, 32-year-old Srikant Gupta stole two designer sarees from a showroom in Bilaspur so that his 26-year-old wife could win the beauty pageant she was participating in. Along with them, Srikant's cousin was also arrested.
A teacher serving in a state government-run school, Srikant realised that the cost of the sarees was way beyond his budget. He, therefore, decided to steal them so that his wife Premila could wear them in a ramp walk at the "Sawan Sundari" contest. The beauty contest is organised in the district headquarters town every monsoon season. Incidentally, a member of the audience in the beauty contest recognised the sarees when Premila donned them at the ramp and alerted the shop owners. The shop owners, in turn, reported the matter to the police.
