Bihar Police have arrested an individual for allegedly making casteist slurs and issuing threatening remarks against Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on the social media platform Facebook, officials said.

The accused has been identified as Rajesh Rao Sardar, a resident of Marufganj in Patna, who is involved in transportation and other business activities, the police said.
FIR Registered Over Threat Video
DSP (cyber cell) Abdurrahman Danish elaborated that the accused Sardar used his Facebook platform to post a video on Wednesday, making objectionable comments, abuses, and threatening to kill the Union Minister. Following the threats, the Bihar police arrested the accused after registering a case against the profile name 'Rajesh Rao Sardar'. "On 20th May 2026, during social media monitoring, a Facebook video came to light in which a person was using casteist slurs, abusing, threatening to kill, and making objectionable comments against the Union Minister. Taking this matter seriously, the Gaya Cyber Police Station registered a case number 7026, dated 20.05.2026, against Rajesh Rao Sardar with the profile name, and initiated an investigation," he said.
Special Team Arrests Accused
Danish said a special team was constituted to trace and apprehend the accused, following which he was arrested from the Lahari Sarai police station area in Nalanda district.
He added that the accused does not have any prior criminal record. "Following technical investigation and prompt action by the special team, the accused, Rajesh Rao, was arrested from the Lahari Sarai police station in Nalanda district, and further action is underway. The accused has no criminal history," he said.
Investigation Continues
The cyber cell DSP further stated that authorities have sought metadata and other technical details from Facebook for further investigation into the case. "We have requested data from Facebook metadata and are conducting technical investigations. The accused has some transportation business and other businesses. He lives in Marufganj, Patna," he added.
Police said the investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the video and whether any other individuals are involved in the matter. Further details are awaited. (ANI)
