Another star of Tollywood has entered the field of politics again. Actress Payal Sarkar joined the BJP on Thursday (February 25). The actress picked up the saffron flag from the hands of state BJP president Dilip Ghosh at the BJP's election office in Basting.

Last week, Tollywood actor had joined the BJP in presence of the party's West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP national vice-president Mukul Roy and Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta.

It cannot be said that Payal, a history student at Jadavpur University, is openly vocal about her political ideology. However, she joined the BJP camp on Thursday. Incidentally, there was a rumor floating in the air that Payal could join the BJP. 

Coincidentally, Director Raj Chakraborty officially joined the Trinamool in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at a meeting in Sahaganj, Hooghly on Wednesday (February 24) with whom Payel had a close relationship for a good time.

Payel's joining the BJP on Thursday further strengthened the continuity of celebrities from the acting world to join politics. Be it television or the big screen, one star after another has been seen recently joining the political parties.

Yesterday, former cricketer Ashoke Dinda also joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Babul Supriyo and state BJP vice-president Arjun Singh at a public meeting in Kolkata.

As the elections are near, the BJP is pulling out all the stops to unseat the ruling TMC from West Bengal.
