The Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Tejashwi Yadav said on Monday (March 1) that his party will do its utmost to help Mamata Banerjee in the forthcoming assembly elections in West Bengal. Tejashwi met Mamata Banerjee in Nabanna (state secretariat) on Monday afternoon.

Tejashwi said, “It is very important to stay with Mamata Banerjee to stop the BJP coming in power in the state. Therefore, the RJD will be by the side of the Trinamool Congress with all its might in the upcoming assembly elections. If we want to save civilization, we have to remove BJP.”

After hearing Tejashwi’s statement, Mamata Banerjee said, “Tejaswi was supposed to be the Chief Minister of Bihar in the last assembly elections. But it was not possible with the BJP's strategy. I wish him all the best for the future.”

“When we are fighting, it is brother Tejashwi who is also fighting, we are together,” she added.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal chief also appealed to the people from Bihar domiciled in the state to vote for the ruling TMC.

However, Tejashwi Yadav did not open his mouth about whether the RJD will contest the elections in alliance with the TMC. He said that the upcoming polls will be a fight for saving “ideals and values”.
