At the same time, the Tollywood actor also said that he will not join any other political party. It may be mentioned that Chiranjit had contested for the post of MLA from Barasat Center on behalf of Trinamool Congress in 2011.

In recent times, many Tollywood actors have left the Trinamool Congress and joined the BJP. The TMC and the BJP are more concerned with celebrities than traditional and professional politicians. I just want to say that I don't want to fight for votes anymore. Having informed that, I have asked the team leader for my resignation. Let's see what she says.”

According to sources, Chiranjit did not want to stand for election even in 2011. In the words of the veteran actor, "I have appreciated Mamata Banerjee for a long time. Even before coming to politics. I also had regular contact with her. Therefore, she told me to stand for election in 2011. Even then I objected. But she said, 146 seats are needed to form the government. So, I need to stand for the election. Keeping her request, I contested for the election and won.”
