Assam: UPRF militant Martin Guite killed in encounter
The police recovered a huge amount of ammunition from UPRF chairman Martin Guite
FollowGuwahati: In an encounter the chairman of United People’s Liberation Front (UPRF) Martin Guite was killed in Assam. Assam Police said that the encounter took place in Manja area of Karbi Anglong district on October 5.
Taking to Twitter, Assam ADGP GP Singh wrote, “Late last evening, Martin Guite, SS Chairman of UPRF, an insurgent group active in Karbi Anglong, was wounded and later declared dead in exchange of fire with team of @assampolice in Manja PS area of Karbi Anglong. @DGPAssamPolice @CMOfficeassam”

According to reports, the UPRF militants opened fire on the police team, to which the personnel retaliated, leading to an exchange of fire that lasted till early in the morning.
The report added that the police team also seized a 7.65 mm pistol and four cartridges from the spot. To nab more militants, a search operation is also underway.
