28 start-ups blacklisted by IITs this year
Following a series of complaints about companies making last minute changes to job offers during the 2105-2016 placement, the Indian Institute of technology has taken a firm stand, banning 31 companies from recruiting IIT students this year.
Â
Only two of the 31 blacklisted firms — Johnson Electric and Fundamental Education — are not startups. 28 of the blacklisted companies are start-ups; including delivery service Grofers, mobile marketplace Zimply and  hotel booking website Stayzilla amongst others.  Amusingly many of these start-ups were founded by IIT alumni.

Zomato that had been banned by the tech institute last year will continue to be blacklisted for one more year.Â
Â
PSK,  Johnson Electric, China, Portea Medical, Cashcare Technologies and PepperTap  were blacklisted for revoking job offers.

Surprisingly, Flipkart which had deferred the joining dates for new recruits last year did not appear in the blacklist; the e-commerce giant will only be served with a warning letter.
Â
The complete blacklist was compiled after taking feedback from all 23 IITs and is the first time that they have struck off such a large number of firms.
