Kerala gold smuggling case: One more accused arrested by customs
One more person has been arrested in connection with the Kerala gold smuggling case
The customs officials have arrested one more accused in the Kerala gold smuggling case. The accused Hamzath Abdu Salam has been arrested in the case for buying the smuggled gold.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday (July 22), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials pasted a copy of the arrest warrant on Faisal Fareed’s house in Thrissur.
He is the third accused in the gold smuggling case.
It is learnt that the warrant is the first step in bringing back Fareed to Kerala. The warrant will be handed over to Interpol.
At present Fareed is in police custody in Dubai.
The Kerala gold smuggling scam came to light after the customs department seized 30 kg gold from an air cargo consignment from the UAE to the country’s consulate in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5.
