Tollywood actor Yash Dasgupta joins BJP

Tollywood actor Yash Dasgupta joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in Kolkata on Wednesday (February 17). 
 

Yash Dasgupta joined the BJP in presence of the party's West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP national vice-president Mukul Roy and Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta.
 

After joining the BJP, the actor said, “If you want to change the system, you have to be part of the system.”

Ashok Bhadra, Mallika Bandyopadhyay, Papia Adhikari, Soumili Ghosh Biswas and Tramila Bhattacharya are among others who joined the BJP along with Yash Dasgupta on Wednesday.
 

Yash Dasgupta joined the BJP ahead of the Assembly polls in West Bengal. Elections are likely to take place in the state in April-May.
 

From being a non-existent party in West Bengal, the BJP emerged as the significant political force in the 2019 General Elections, in which it bagged 18 of the 42 seats.
