Abhishek Banerjee slams BJP’s ‘Sonar Bangla’ slogan
Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday (February 25) attacked the BJP from a meeting at Thakurnagar in North 24 Parganas. He slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and other BJP leaders from the meeting. He even claimed that the BJP was lying on the issue of citizenship.
Abhishek said, “Mamata Banerjee had formed a board for the Matuas and honored them. She has leased and recognized all refugee colonies. After doing all these, she is seeking votes. But the BJP says you will get citizenship after voting us.”
While addressing a public meeting at Thakurnagar, Abhishek Banerjee said, “They (BJP) call us pro-Bangladesh for chanting Jai Bangla slogan. But what about their own slogan 'Sonar Bangla' which is the national anthem of Bangladesh.”
"Jai Bangla" was a popular slogan during the Bangladesh liberation war. The BJP accused Mamata Banerjee of appeasing Muslims and failing to stop people coming from Bangladesh to the state.
Abhishek said that he could not be stopped by showing fear of CBI. Abhishek said that he will give the slogan of “Joy Harichand, Joy Guruchand” to BJP leaders.
Abhishek Banerjee also alleged that water was poured at a helipad to prevent him from coming to Thakurnagar and meet with the Matua community.
